Parenting in an Age of Increasing Harm and Violence

 

Asian American Christian Collaborative cordially invites you to the final conference in our three part parenting series, Parenting in an Age of Increasing Harm and Violence. This series is designed for parents of children and teens who desire equipping and learning together in community.

In the final conference in the series "Parenting in an Age of Increasing Harm and Violence," experts in their respective fields will discuss the following topics:

  • Pastoral perspective on the gun violence epidemic

  • Confronting and engaging the reality of sin/evil in all its expressions

  • The truth about our human reality and how to seek God’s truth as a response

  • Why and how Christian parents should actively engage in social issues impacting their children/community

  • What the Christian community can do to make our children’s schools, homes, places of worship, and public spaces safer for everyone

Our featured speakers will be Reverend Dr. Soong-Chan Rah, Professor of Evangelism at Fuller Theological Seminary and ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church and Pastor Raymond Chang, President of Asian American Christian Collaborative and Executive Director of the TENx10 Collaboration (an initiative of the Fuller Youth Institute at Fuller Theological Seminary).

The in-person conference was held on Saturday, May 20th at Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo, CA.

 

Speaker Bios

Reverend Dr. Soong-Chan Rah is Robert Boyd Munger Professor of Evangelism at Fuller Theological Seminary. He holds a ThD from Duke Divinity School, an MDiv and a DMin from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a ThM from Harvard University. Rah has authored or coauthored many award-winning books including The Next Evangelicalism (IVP Books), Many Colors (Moody), Prophetic Lament (IVP Books), Return to Justice (Brazos), Unsettling Truths (IVP Books), and Forgive Us (Zondervan). He is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church and has spoken widely on the topics of the witness of the church, cross-cultural ministry, and social justice on both the domestic and global level.

Pastor Raymond Chang is the president of the Asian American Christian Collaborative, a pastor, and writer. He regularly preaches God’s Word and speaks throughout the country on issues pertaining to Christianity and culture, race and faith. He has lived throughout the world (Korea, Guatemala, Panama, Spain, China), traveled to nearly 50 countries, and currently lives in Chicagoland, serving as the Executive Director of the TENx10 Collaboration (an initiative of the Fuller Youth Institute at Fuller Seminary), which is a collaborative movement that is geared towards reaching 10 million young people over 10 years with the gospel). Prior to his role at Fuller, Raymond served for 7+ years as the Associate Chaplain for Discipleship at Wheaton College. He also worked in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, and served in the Peace Corps in Panama. He is currently pursuing his PhD on the intersection of Spirituality and Campus/Organizational Racial Climates.
