Mental Health and Well-Being for Teens/Children

 

Asian American Christian Collaborative cordially invites you to the second conference in our three part parenting series. This series is designed for parents of children and teens who desire equipping and learning together in community.

In the second conference in the series "Mental Health and Well-Being for Teens/Children," experts in their respective fields will discuss the following topics:

  • How psychology and the Christian faith can work together in building positive mental health outcomes

  • Learn about the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on children’s and families’ mental health

  • How mental health impacts the development of young people's sense of identity and self

  • Research informed tips to cultivating resilience to stress and anxiety

  • How parents can stay involved in and be aware of potential mental health challenges

  • How the Gospel informs how we parent and interact with our children and teens

Our featured guest speakers will be Dr. David C. Wang, Th.M.Ph.D., a pastor of spiritual formation at One Life City Church (Fullerton, CA), licensed psychologist, and the Cliff and Joyce Penner Chair for the Formation of Emotionally Healthy Leaders and Associate Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, and Ying Ying Shiue, M.A., LPCC, a licensed professional clinical counselor at Thrive Therapy Studio who also has experience working in a wide range of settings, including school, after school, community, nonprofit, juvenile justice, and private practice, serving children, youth, adults, and families.

The in-person conference will be on Saturday, April 15th from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM PDT at Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo, CA.

Free registration is required. Breakfast and lunch included.

 

Speaker Bios

David C. Wang, Th.M., Ph.D. is a pastor of spiritual formation at One Life City Church (Fullerton, CA), licensed psychologist (drdavidcwang.com), and the Cliff and Joyce Penner Chair for the Formation of Emotionally Healthy Leaders and Associate Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. His academic and applied work focuses on the holistic formation of Christian leaders, inclusive of the formation of emotional health and resilience alongside the leader’s intellectual and spiritual formation. He is the editor of the Journal of Psychology and Theology and conducts research trauma and traumatic stress, spiritual formation and spiritual theology (with special interest in the experience of the spiritual desert), and various topics related to multicultural psychology, peace, and justice.

Ying-Ying Shiue, M.A., LPCC is a licensed professional clinical counselor and has always been passionate about helping people. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University and has experience tutoring, managing, and directing a variety of children and youth programs, including being the Children's Ministry Director at Highrock-Brookline. She received a Master of Arts in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling with LPCC eligibility from University of San Diego. She is credentialed as a school counselor in California (PPS #170138441) as well as being a National Certified Counselor #886264. She has also worked in a wide range of settings, including school, after school, community, nonprofit, juvenile justice, and private practice, serving children, youth, adults, and families.
